Overview

Hayya is Qatar's official entry platform, and the Hayya entry visa is the document it issues for visiting Qatar for tourism or a stopover. It is not a residence or work permit: it authorises a short visit to Doha and the rest of the country, with your details checked against entry records before you travel. The Hayya entry visa is valid 30 days, allows a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days, and can be extended by a further 30 days from inside Qatar through the same platform.

It covers leisure travel, business meetings and the long layovers that make Doha a popular stopover on routes between Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. The requirement itself depends on your nationality. GCC nationals enter freely, around one hundred nationalities including most Western travellers enter without a visa and only register through Hayya, and the remaining travellers apply for the Hayya entry visa before they fly.

Whichever route applies to you, the registration and any documents are handled through the official Qatari system, and the same passport you applied with must be the one you travel on. Your nationality's current requirement is checked, the correct Hayya application is prepared in your own language, reviewed for completeness, submitted to the official platform and the outcome tracked, so you reach Doha with everything in order rather than discovering a missing step at the airport.

Qatar Hayya questions

  • Which nationalities need a Qatar visa, and who enters via Hayya?

Around 100 nationalities, including most Western travellers, enter visa-free and simply register through Hayya, while travellers who need a visa apply for the Hayya entry visa. GCC nationals need no visa at all. Our wizard checks your nationality's current requirement and prepares the right Hayya application, so you arrive with everything in order.

  • Can I use Doha as a stopover with the Hayya?

Yes. Qatar Airways routes through Hamad International Airport (DOH) are a common stopover use case. The Hayya lets you leave the airport and explore Doha during long layovers without a separate transit visa, and our wizard prepares the application for your itinerary.

  • How long is the Hayya valid and how long can I stay?

The Hayya entry visa is valid 30 days and allows a 30-day stay, single entry, extendable by a further 30 days from inside Qatar. Children, including infants, need their own Hayya.

  • How much is the Qatar Hayya?

You pay one all-inclusive price. It covers the government fee paid to the Qatari authority that issues the Hayya and our service preparing your application in your language and reviewing it before submission; the government portion is itemised on your receipt. The government fee is non-refundable; our service fee is refunded in most denial scenarios outside your control. Because many nationalities enter visa-free, the government fee depends on your nationality, so the amount on your receipt may be adjusted.

  • How long does the Qatar Hayya take?

The Qatari Ministry of Interior typically issues Hayya authorisations within 1 to 7 business days of submission. Our Rush tier reviews within 24 hours; Super Rush ships same-day with status tracking.

  • Is VisitPass official, and how does this work?

VisitPass is an independent service, not a government website. We prepare and review your Hayya application in your language, then submit it to the official Qatari platform and track it for you. The government fee goes to the Qatari authority that issues the Hayya; our service fee covers the preparation and review.

  • Is the Hayya the same as the World Cup visa?

The Hayya scheme launched for FIFA World Cup 2022 and is now a permanent entry platform for tourism and business visits. The same portal handles Hayya applications today, with continuing improvements to the digital experience.

  • If I can enter Qatar visa-free, why register through Hayya?

Visa-free entry still goes through Hayya: it is Qatar's single official platform for all visitors, so even travellers who pay no visa fee complete a Hayya registration linked to their passport before arrival. Registering in advance means your details are on record when you reach Hamad International, smoothing the entry check. We confirm whether your nationality registers visa-free or applies for the entry visa, then prepare the correct route for you.

  • Can I extend my stay in Qatar?

Yes. The 30-day stay on a Hayya entry visa can be extended by a further 30 days, requested from inside Qatar through the official platform before your current stay ends. The extension is handled by the Qatari authority and is separate from our service; we note the current procedure in your confirmation email so you know how to apply if your plans change.

  • What photo do I need for the Hayya?

A recent colour passport photograph on a plain white background, showing your full face from the front with a neutral expression, no glasses and nothing covering the face. Keep it sharp and well lit, with no filters or heavy shadows. You upload a digital file rather than a printed photo. Before submission we check that your image meets the platform's requirements, since a non-compliant photo is a routine cause of delay.

  • What does single entry mean for the Hayya?

Single entry means the Hayya entry visa lets you enter Qatar once during its validity. Once you leave the country the authorisation is used, so a separate trip later needs a new application. If your itinerary involves leaving and returning, for example a side trip to a neighbouring country, tell us in the wizard and we confirm the right option so your plan is covered.

  • What happens if my Hayya is refused?

If an application is not approved it usually points to a detail that needs correcting or a requirement that does not fit your nationality, and we explain the likely reason and the next step rather than leaving you guessing. The government fee is paid to the Qatari authority and is non-refundable, while our service fee is refunded in most denial scenarios that are outside your control. Reviewing every field before submission is what keeps avoidable refusals rare.

  • What are the most common mistakes that delay a Hayya?

By far the most frequent is a name or passport number typed differently from the passport page, since a single wrong character can stall the entry check. Cropped, filtered or busy-background photos are the next cause, followed by a passport with under six months of validity. We read every field back against your document and flag a photo the platform would reject, so these avoidable issues surface before submission rather than at the airport.

  • Do I need a separate transit visa for a layover in Doha?

No separate transit visa is required to pass through Hamad International on a connecting ticket. To leave the airport and see the city during a long layover, you do that on the Hayya rather than a transit visa, which is why Doha works so well as a stopover on Qatar Airways routes. Tell us your connection times in the wizard and we prepare the right Hayya for your itinerary, so the city is open to you between flights.

  • I read I can enter Qatar without a visa, do I still apply?

Around 100 nationalities enter Qatar visa-free, yet every visitor still completes a Hayya registration linked to their passport before arrival, so applying is the same step whether or not a visa fee applies. Doing it through us means your details are prepared in your language and read for completeness, and we confirm in advance whether your nationality registers visa-free or needs the entry visa, so you reach Hamad International with the correct record on file.

  • When should I apply for the Qatar Hayya entry visa?

The Qatari Ministry of Interior (Hayya portal) usually decides within 1 to 7 business days. Apply once your trip to Doha is booked, ideally a week or two before departure, so a routine query never collides with your flight. Peak travel periods and public holidays can add time. If you are booking a last-minute stopover, the Rush and Super Rush tiers exist for short-notice travel.
