Mexico FMM

Everything you need to apply for your Mexico FMM: the requirements, the documents, and the steps from start to approval.

Official Mexico government portal

What you'll need

Have these ready before you begin your application. Requirements can vary by nationality and trip purpose.

  • Passport valid for your trip
  • Email address for your permit
  • Travel dates and your address in Mexico
  • Means and date of entry, by air or land
  • Payment method (one all-inclusive price)

How to apply

Three steps from start to approval.

  1. Complete the form

Answer the official questions online. Your draft is saved for 30 days, so you can finish once your documents are to hand.

  2. Pay securely

You see the one all-inclusive price before you pay. We check your application for completeness before it reaches the government portal.

  3. Receive by email

Your approved travel authorisation arrives by email. Bring it, or a copy, together with the passport you applied with when you travel.

Government processing time

What the issuing authority typically takes once the application is submitted.

Most FMM permits are issued within one to three business days. The Rush tier is reviewed within 24 hours of payment, and Super Rush is submitted on a priority basis the same day, so the permit is ready before you travel.

Who can apply

Most visitors travelling to Mexico for tourism or business complete an FMM (Forma Migratoria Multiple). Travellers arriving by air usually have the entry permit included with their flight, while those entering by land apply for it in advance or at the border. It permits a stay of up to 180 days, with the exact period set by the immigration officer on arrival.
