Overview

The Indonesia e-VOA is the electronic version of the visa on arrival, an online travel authorisation issued by Indonesian immigration before you fly. It is valid for entry as a single-entry document and permits a stay of 30 days for tourism, which is the usual reason travellers head to Bali and the rest of the archipelago. Once in the country the 30 days can be extended a single time for a further 30 days, giving up to 60 days in total, with the extension arranged at a local immigration office rather than online.

More than 90 nationalities are eligible, including travellers from the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada and Australia, and each traveller needs their own e-VOA, including children. Because it is single entry, the authorisation is used up the moment you leave the country: a side trip to Singapore or Malaysia and back means a new e-VOA for the return. The e-VOA covers leisure and short family visits only.

It does not authorise paid work, study toward a qualification, journalism for an Indonesian outlet, or any form of residence, all of which require the appropriate Indonesian visa applied for separately. The 2025 digital customs declaration is a separate arrival step and is not part of this authorisation. Your Indonesia e-VOA is prepared in your own language and every answer is checked against the current rules before it is submitted to Indonesian immigration.

Indonesia e-VOA questions

  • How long does the Indonesia e-VOA take?

The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration typically issues e-VOAs within a few business days. Our Rush tier reviews within 24 hours and Super Rush ships the same day, and we recommend applying at least 48 hours before departure so there is room for the government decision.

  • Can I extend my e-VOA inside Indonesia?

Yes. The e-VOA can be extended once for an additional 30 days, giving up to 60 days in total. The extension is processed at an Indonesian immigration office and is separate from VisitPass. We share the current extension procedure in your confirmation email.

  • Is the e-VOA valid for Bali?

Yes. The e-VOA is valid for entry at all major Indonesian international airports and seaports, including Bali (Ngurah Rai), Jakarta and Surabaya. Bali is the most common destination, and the same authorisation covers the rest of Indonesia for tourism.

  • What if my application is rejected?

Most refusals come down to photo specifications, passport validity or missing accommodation details, which we check before submission. If your e-VOA is refused for reasons outside your control, our service fee is refunded; the government fee is paid to the authority and is non-refundable.

  • Do I still need to fill the on-arrival card?

The e-VOA replaces the old visa-on-arrival sticker, but Indonesia introduced a separate digital customs declaration in October 2025 that you complete around the time you arrive. It is not part of the e-VOA. We include the current link and guidance in your confirmation email.

  • Who can use the Indonesia e-VOA?

Nationals of more than 90 countries can use the e-VOA for single-entry tourism stays of up to 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days at an immigration office. This includes US, UK, EU, Canadian and Australian travellers. Each traveller needs their own e-VOA, including children.

  • What do I need to apply for the Indonesia e-VOA?

A passport valid at least six months beyond arrival with two blank pages, a recent passport-style photo, a return or onward flight ticket, your accommodation address in Indonesia and a payment card. We review your details against the current rules before submission.

  • Is this an official site, and how do I avoid Bali e-VOA scams?

VisitPass is an independent service, not a government website, and we are not affiliated with the government of Indonesia. You pay one all-inclusive price; the government fee is passed directly to Indonesian immigration and itemised on your receipt, with no hidden charges, so you always see exactly what each part of the price covers.

  • How much does the Indonesia e-VOA cost?

You pay one all-inclusive price that includes the government fee set by Indonesian immigration and our service fee, with the government portion itemised on your receipt. The government fee is paid directly to the authority, while our fee covers preparing, reviewing and submitting your application in your language. There are no charges added later.

  • What is the difference between the e-VOA and the visa on arrival?

They are the same authorisation obtained in two ways. The e-VOA is the electronic version you arrange online and pay for before you fly, then present at the e-VOA lane on arrival. The older counter visa on arrival is paid at the airport. Applying online beforehand means you skip the payment queue and travel with your approval already confirmed.

  • What photo and documents does the e-VOA require?

You provide a recent passport-style photograph, your passport details from a passport valid at least six months with two blank pages, a return or onward ticket and your accommodation address. We check the photo and that your name and passport number match the passport page before we submit, since a mismatch is the most common reason an application is delayed.

  • Do I need to print the e-VOA, and what do I show at the airport?

Keep a copy of your approved e-VOA, on your phone or printed, and present the QR code at the e-VOA lane on arrival. The officer scans it and stamps your passport. Travel on the same passport you applied with, and have your return ticket and accommodation details ready in case the officer asks about your trip.

  • What are the most common reasons an e-VOA is refused, and how do I avoid them?

Most problems come down to a passport that expires within six months of arrival, a name or passport number that does not match the passport page, a photo that fails the spec, or missing accommodation details. We read every field back against your document and flag these before submission, so small slips are caught early rather than at the airport.

  • How do I extend my e-VOA once I am in Indonesia?

The e-VOA gives a 30-day stay that you can extend a single time for another 30 days, up to 60 days in total. The extension is arranged inside Indonesia at a local immigration office, not online and not before you fly, and you typically need your passport, the e-VOA and proof of onward travel. Start it well before your 30 days run out, and we include the current procedure in your confirmation email.

  • How can I tell if an Indonesia visa website is fake?

Indonesia ran a 2026 crackdown on fraudulent Bali e-VOA sites that copy official pages and phish card details. Be wary of pages that promise approval the moment you pay, demand payment by transfer or cryptocurrency, hide who operates the site, or quote a single bundled price with no breakdown. We show the government fee and our service fee separately, pass the government fee to Indonesian immigration, and are not affiliated with any government.

  • Do I need an onward ticket or proof of funds for Indonesia?

Yes. Indonesian immigration expects you to hold a return or onward flight ticket showing you will leave within the permitted stay, and officers may ask to see proof of sufficient funds for your trip, such as a bank statement or card. Have these ready alongside your accommodation address when you land, since the officer makes the final admission decision.

  • When should I apply for the Indonesia e-VOA?

The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration decides in 1 to 3 business days. Arrange and pay for the e-VOA online once your trip is booked, ideally at least 48 hours before departure and a week or two ahead if you can, so the government decision and our review both have room. Peak travel periods can add time. For short-notice travel, Rush and Super Rush tiers ship your form to the authority quickly.
