Overview
The Cambodia e-Visa is the country's official online tourist visa, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and obtained before you travel. It is granted as a single-entry visa and is valid for 90 days from approval, the window within which you must enter Cambodia, while the stay it permits is up to 30 days from the date you arrive. The e-Visa covers tourism: sightseeing, visiting family and friends, and short leisure trips.
It does not authorise paid work, study toward a qualification, journalism for a Cambodian outlet, or long-term residence, each of which requires a different visa category arranged through a Cambodian embassy. The tourist e-Visa is open to nationals of more than 150 countries, including United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Canadian and Australian passport holders. It is important to keep three things apart.
The e-Visa is the visa you obtain online ahead of the trip and is the one prepared for you ahead of the trip. A visa on arrival is a separate option some travellers use at certain land and air entry points, paid in cash on landing. The Cambodia e-Arrival is not a visa at all but an online arrival and customs declaration completed in the days just before you fly, and it is required in addition to your visa.

How long does the Cambodia e-Visa take?

Can I extend my Cambodia e-Visa?

How much does the Cambodia e-Visa cost?

What is the difference between the e-Visa, visa on arrival and the e-Arrival card?
The e-Visa is the online tourist visa you obtain before travel and is what we process. A visa on arrival is a different option issued at certain entry points when you land. What photo do I need for the Cambodia e-Visa?
You upload a recent colour passport-style photo: your full face on a plain light background, no hat or sunglasses, and even lighting with no shadows. Photos that are dark, blurred or tightly cropped are a frequent reason an application is held, so use a clear, well-lit picture.
Do I need a printed e-Visa at the border?
Yes. Cambodian border officials commonly request the printed e-Visa. We recommend carrying both printed and digital copies alongside your passport.
What does single entry mean on a Cambodia e-Visa?
Single entry means the e-Visa admits you to Cambodia once. After you leave the country the visa is used up, even if days remain on it, so a separate trip needs a new e-Visa. Travellers planning to leave and return should consider a category that allows multiple entries.
Do US citizens need a visa for Cambodia?
Yes. US citizens, like most nationalities, need a visa for Cambodia, and the tourist e-Visa is the most common online option. It is single entry, valid 90 days from approval and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Children need their own e-Visa; business categories follow separate embassy procedures.
Do I need a Cambodia e-Visa for a layover or connection?
If you pass through immigration or leave the international transit area, you need a valid visa even for a short stop. Travellers who stay airside on a single connecting ticket usually do not, but rules vary by airport and route, so check your itinerary and apply for the e-Visa if in doubt.
How long can I stay in Cambodia, and can I extend the stay?
The tourist e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days from the date you enter. You can extend it once for a further 30 days in person at the Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh, paid to the Cambodian authority. Longer or repeated stays require a different visa category.

What happens if my Cambodia e-Visa is refused?
Refusals on a correctly completed tourist e-Visa are uncommon. If an application is not approved it usually points to a documentation issue or a trip that suits a different visa category. We review your answers before submission to reduce avoidable errors, and the government fee set by the authority is not refundable once charged.
How do I avoid having my Cambodia e-Visa held or delayed?
The most common avoidable issue is a small mismatch between your form and your passport. Type your name exactly as printed, copy the passport number and expiry without errors, and confirm your passport stays valid for at least six months. Use a clear photo and a working email. We check these details before submission so simple slips do not stall your application.
Do I need proof of funds or an onward ticket for Cambodia?
The online application itself does not ask you to upload bank statements. On arrival, however, Cambodian officers can ask to see proof of onward or return travel and that you can support your stay, as they may at many destinations. Keep a copy of your return or onward booking and a means of payment to hand so the border check goes smoothly.
Why might my Cambodia e-Visa photo be rejected, and how do I fix it?
Uploads are usually held when the image is too dark, blurred, heavily filtered, or cropped so the head is cut off. Retake it in even, natural light against a plain pale wall, keep a neutral expression with both eyes open, and remove hats and tinted glasses. We flag a weak image before it reaches the authority.
What is the Cambodia e-Arrival card, and is it the same as the e-Visa?
They are separate steps. The e-Visa is the online tourist visa you secure before travel and is what we process for you. The Cambodia e-Arrival is a free online arrival declaration, not a visa, that you fill in close to your trip. When should I apply for the Cambodia e-Visa?
The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decides in 1 to 5 business days. Most travellers apply one to three weeks before departure, which leaves room for the government window plus your chosen review tier. There is no fixed minimum, so you can begin now and save your progress until your passport and travel dates are final.
